New Day in Austin.

Excellent N.Y. Times story today on the integration of the football team at the University of Texas. From Julius Whittier's self-description as a "jock who just wanted to play big-time football" to a more recent history of successful black quarterbacks, the Longhorns are much different than the last team to win a national title in Austin.

"It completes the circle from a team that had no blacks to a truly diverse one, one with a black athlete in the ultimate leadership position - quarterback - of the university's most prized institution."

Just a real pleasant, interesting read for a Friday morning.
